It's Apple-only. Always has been. If you need to send a file between an iPhone and a Windows PC, AirDrop can't help. chirpfile can.

When AirDrop fails
iPhone to Windows PC
AirDrop doesn't exist on Windows. Your options: email it, upload to Google Drive, or find a cable. With chirpfile, open the website on both devices and send.
Android to Mac
AirDrop doesn't talk to Android. You need Nearby Share on the Android side and it won't reach the Mac. chirpfile works between any two browsers.
AirDrop "waiting" forever
Usually means devices aren't on the same network, Bluetooth is off, or the receiver isn't discoverable. chirpfile doesn't need any of that.
Office or hotel WiFi
Public and corporate networks block device-to-device discovery (AP isolation). AirDrop can't find anything. chirpfile routes through an encrypted relay, so network restrictions don't matter.
Try it now
Open chirpfile.com on two devices and send a file.
AirDrop uses Apple's proprietary protocols (AWDL and Bluetooth LE). Apple has never released it for other platforms. chirpfile is a web app that works on anything with a browser.
Is there an AirDrop for Android?
Android has Quick Share (formerly Nearby Share), but it only works between Android and Chrome OS devices. It doesn't connect to iPhones or Macs. chirpfile works across all of them.
Why can't AirDrop find the other device?
AirDrop needs both devices on the same WiFi, Bluetooth enabled, and the receiver set to "Everyone" or "Contacts Only." If any of those is wrong, it silently fails. chirpfile works across different networks and doesn't use Bluetooth.
Is chirpfile as fast as AirDrop?
For large files on the same local network, AirDrop is faster because it transfers directly. chirpfile routes through an encrypted relay, so speed depends on your internet connection. For most files under 100 MB, the difference is a few seconds.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Open chirpfile.com in any browser. No app, no account, no sign-up.
